We built a free tool that scores your Squarespace site. It takes about 15 seconds.
No account, no sales call, no generic PageSpeed report that has no idea what Squarespace even is. Paste your URL and get a real score across performance, SEO, accessibility, design, and the platform-specific stuff most tools don’t check at all.
Every business owner has run their site through one of the generic online “grader” tools at some point. You paste in your URL, wait for a spinner, and get back a page speed score and a pile of technical jargon that doesn’t tell you what to actually do about it — and it definitely has no idea you’re on Squarespace specifically, versus WordPress, Wix, or a hand-coded site from 2014.
We build Squarespace sites for a living, and we got tired of not having a fast, honest way to show a prospective client exactly what was and wasn’t working on their current site. So we built one. It’s live now at audit.helprspace.com, and it’s free.
Most website graders don’t know Squarespace exists
Generic audit tools run the same checklist against every site on the internet, regardless of what it’s built on. That’s fine for catching the basics, but it misses everything that’s actually specific to Squarespace: which platform version you’re on, whether your template supports the SEO controls you think it does, and whether that page-speed-killing chat widget or booking plugin you installed is actually duplicating a feature Squarespace already builds in natively.
Those platform-specific issues are usually the ones worth the most to fix, and they’re exactly the ones a generic tool can’t see.
So we built one that can
The audit is built from the same knowledge base as everything else we do: 9+ years and 600+ Squarespace projects worth of pattern recognition on what actually goes wrong on this specific platform. Paste in a URL, and in about 15 seconds you get a real score — no account, no email required just to see it.
One thing we were deliberate about: every finding comes from automated, rules-based checks, not an AI model guessing at what might be wrong. If the tool tells you 144 of your images are missing alt text, that’s because it counted them, not because a language model felt like saying so. We’d rather show you five real issues than fifteen plausible-sounding ones.
It’s also honest about its own limits. Run a non-Squarespace site through it and it tells you outright: general findings are still shown, but the platform-specific analysis — the part that’s actually our specialty — won’t apply.
What it actually checks
The score breaks down into five categories, each scored out of 100:
Performance. How fast the site actually loads, not just whether it feels fast on your own laptop with a warm cache.
SEO. The on-page basics that decide whether search engines (and increasingly, AI search) can understand what your site is about.
Accessibility. Alt text, contrast, labeled forms — the same category of issue we covered in our piece on 2026’s accessibility lawsuit numbers, checked automatically instead of manually.
Squarespace. Version detection, template-specific quirks, and whether you’re relying on native features or paying for plugins that duplicate them.
Design/UX. Structural and usability signals that affect whether visitors actually stick around.
The tool also tells you flat out which Squarespace version you’re running and whether that gives you access to current SEO controls and native features — version 7.1 sites have meaningfully more available than older 7.0 sites, and plenty of owners have no idea which one they’re on.
Free score now, full breakdown if you want it
The score and a single flagged “top issue” show up immediately, for free, with nothing to enter. If you want the complete ranked list — every issue found, in the order we’d actually fix them — that’s one email address away. No call, no pitch attached to it.
We built this to answer one question honestly: what’s actually wrong with your site right now. Not to generate a lead form disguised as a report.
What to do with your score
Where you should focus depends on what your site is for. If you sell anything online, weight Performance and the Squarespace-specific findings heavily — that’s where checkout friction and unnecessary plugin bloat usually hide. If your business runs on people finding you through search, Accessibility and SEO matter more, and they compound: several of the same issues that hurt accessibility (missing alt text, unclear structure) are the same ones that hurt how search engines read your site.
If the report turns up more than you want to tackle solo, that’s exactly the gap our website builds and monthly care plans are built to close — we fix what the audit finds, then keep it from drifting back.
Run your own site through it at audit.helprspace.com. It takes about 15 seconds, and you’ll know more about your site in that time than most owners learn in a year of wondering why traffic isn’t converting.
